Why I love shooting at golden hour!

This 8 year old has the best personality! She joked with me about her future in modeling. She loved running with my daughter through the fields and going down to the water to splash around.

What made this session one of my favorites was achieving the perfect lighting! Golden hour light, an hour before sunset is my favorite light to shoot in. I love the warmth of the photos! Add a sunset to that and we're gold! I’m able to really bring out the colors in a photo. I dont have as many harsh mid day shadows. I can turn my subject away from the bright sun to avoid squinting eyes. This may cause the subject to look dark. However I use my off camera flash to return light back onto the subject.
