If You Have To Take Your Own Maternity Photos
On the day of your maternity photoshoot you should feel like a queen and not have to worry about any work. Which is why many mamas hire a photographer to help insure a stress free experience. Sometimes for whatever reason that experience may not be possible and you find yourself needing to capture your own intimate moment.
You don't necessarily have to have a nice camera since phone camera quality has come along way. I took my maternity photos using a Nikon D3400 and my 18-55mm kit lens and a tripod. I simply set the timer and used the camera on auto mode.
While taking your own photos you’ll have to be patient with yourself. Since you are not standing behind the camera taking the photos yourself you will have many redo's. If you are lucky to drag along an extra person they can help you throw up the back of your gown.
You can use simple editing systems to bring up the colors or exposure of your images. Posing ideas can be found online or pinterest.
If it is very sunny out the best thing you could do is try to find shade you can stand in. This will help squinty eyes or harsh shadow. Watch for shadows in the shade as well. Try to keep a leg posed in every image that will help flatter your body.
Really it’s just about having fun with it. There will be trial and error. In the end I hope you end up with photos and an experience you’re happy with!
